De-stress for the Holidays

Its typical to get stressed out during the holiday season, what with busy schedules, over-indulging on turkey and ham dinners, and chipping away at the to-do list for holiday parties and gatherings.

I like to practice yoga on my own (when I have time) to help let go of  whatever is bothering me. Yoga isn't only a series of stretches - it can also be a pretty severe workout depending on the intensity and complexity of the poses or sequences you try.

One of the best parts of yoga is you don't need much - usually just a hard surface, a towel or yoga mat, a quiet environment, your body, and most importantly - something we all don't have enough of - time.

Below is a pretty easy routine compliments of yoga instructor Tara Stiles. It is only 6-7 minutes long, so you can fit it in during a commercial break or after your regular workout, or before you go to bed at night.  The blocks Tara is using can be found at most stores like Walmart, Scheels, etc... and they're pretty cheap for a set of two.

You can find many other free podcasts of Tara's yoga routines on itunes.

Namaste! and Happy Thanksgiving!
