Foundations

I've been noticing several requests for encouragement and prayers over the past week.  Maybe I'm just noticing more, or maybe (more likely) its God's way of nudging me in certain ways. So, when part of His Word strikes me like it has this week, I just have to let you know about it. This week our church high school group studied a section of Luke that helped me find encouragement and got me to thinking about where I am putting my trust and what I'm building my life upon. It just goes to show that the sponsors get as much "out of" youth group as the students do.  Here's our passage from this week:

46"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? 47I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. 48He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built."  -Luke 6: 46-49 (NIV)

So whether you find yourself firmly on THE ROCK today or if you're realizing that you might have built your foundation on things that aren't as lasting (money, things, success, people), know that God is here for you and has lots of joy, encouragement, and peace in his solid WORD. This isn't to make you feel bad about where you are, but show you the opportunities God has for you. Its never too late to dig down deep into God and start building {or maintaining} your foundation.

Have a blessed weekend!
